Thomas M. Kozlowski, CFP®
Co-Founder, Lighthouse Financial Advisors, Inc.
Tom Kozlowski is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional who
co-founded Lighthouse Financial Advisors, Inc. to help families
accumulate and preserve their wealth in preparation for a worry-free and
dignified retirement. With close to two decades of experience in the
financial services industry, Tom is committed to helping his clients
plan for the future while living in the present.
Tom earned his bachelor of science in Business Administration in 1984
from Utica College Syracuse University, and in 1986 was registered as a
securities representative. With his down-to-earth style and
common-sense, and conservative investment approach, Tom strives to help
each of his clients address three common areas of concern: investment
planning (accumulation, preservation and creating an income stream to
enjoy retirement); estate planning (passing money to heirs); and health
care concerns (long term care.)
Tom’s journey began with a series of regional brokerage firms that
pushed “investment products” and “sales quotas” instead of focusing on
what was best for the client. Tom knew there had to be a better way to
help people with their finances than just recommending “the stock or
bond of the day.” Tom then discovered the world of independent broker
dealers.
Independent broker dealers allow each advisor to recommend what he or
she feels is in the best interest of the client. There are no conflicts
of interest; the client and advisor are on the same side of the table!
This approach resonated so deeply with Tom and his business partner,
Andy Wilson, that in 1992 they founded Lighthouse Financial Advisors,
Inc. Today, the Lighthouse Financial Advisors team oversees over
$150,000,000.00 of clients' assets.
With a penchant for helping people from all walks of life, Tom’s clients
range from teachers and nurses to CEO’s and business owners. His clients
have included employees or retirees from national companies, such as:
Bell Atlantic, SAIC, Lockheed, Marriott, AOL, Mack Truck and other Fortune 500
companies. Locally , Tom’s extensive knowledge of the State of Maryland
retirement and pension system have led him to work with several hundred
clients from Montgomery, Prince Georges, Howard, Frederick and
Washington County Public School Systems. As a benefits consultant to
Washington County Hospital and Antietam Health Services, a number of
their employees and retirees find Tom’s specific knowledge of their
plans invaluable when planning for their financial future.
Tom’s service to the community is equally important to him. He is either
serving as or recently served as : Member of Monocacy Valley Church
Building and Finance Team, Chairman of the Gus Macker 3 on 3 Charity
Basketball Tournament, Treasurer of Blue Ridge Force AAU Girls
Basketball, Coordinator and coach of the LUYAA Middle School Girls
Basketball Teams.
